We begin with a design audit: a systematic review of all existing screens against a defined component checklist. Every deviation from the intended visual language is documented, categorised by severity, and assigned an estimated fix effort. This produces a prioritised inventory that the team can work through systematically.
If the product does not have a design system, we build the minimum viable version: a token layer (named variables for every colour, spacing value, and typography property used in the product), a component library (every UI pattern in every state, built from tokens), and a set of usage guidelines.
For products that have a design system but have outgrown it, we extend it: identifying which components are missing, which are inconsistent with the token layer, and which have accumulated undocumented state variations that only exist in the live product.
Deliverable: audit report, updated or new Figma component library, token documentation, contribution guide for extending the system.
